Welcome back to My Jamaican Vignettes and today I am sharing a life in Jamaica update and new fitness journey and what i hope to achieve.

New Fitness Journey

I embarked on my new fitness journey two days after I hit 35. I woke up on Tuesday 18 October 2022 and decided it was time to make a change.

So where did I begin?

I started simply enough by dedicating time each day to some physical activity and I chose walking. Using the Samsung Health app on my phone I started tracking my steps. On my fitness journey so far I am dedicated to completing at least 2000 steps each day. That amounts to around 20 minutes of physical activity per day.

Next I started tracking my calorie in take in the app. I log my breakfast, lunch and dinner and any snacks I might eat throughout the day. I also track my water intake. Presently, my calorie limit is 1428 and I must confess that this past week I’ve eaten more calories than that limit each day so I’m missing the mark somehow. I think I need to resume meal planning.

I am also doing planned exercise sessions using the Samsung Health app. Three days a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I do the Full Body Calorie Burning exercises. Each session is around 15-20 minutes long.

So What Do I Hope To Achieve With This Fitness Journey

First off, I have no idea how much I weigh but based on how my clothes fit I think I am at my heaviest. So I want to lose weight. I also want to feel strong. These last three years I’ve prioritised my mental health and I am happy with where I am mentally and emotionally so it is time to focus on my physical wellbeing as well.

In the next two or three months, I plan to invest in a fitness tracker and maybe a scale. If I keep this up for a year I will get an exercise bike to workout at home. But for now all I need is my yoga mat.
