It is finally summer! As I draft this blog post it is Wednesday 21 June 2023 and the summer solstice. I have been struggling to complete my requested ARCs for the last few months and I feel behind with so many books but I’m excited about this summer 2023 TBR list.

Summer 2023 TBR List

So I’m sharing all the books I hope to read during summer 2023. It’s a mix of literary fiction, mysteries and romance. Plus these are ebooks and audiobooks.

June Currently Reading List

So presently I am reading four books according to my Goodreads reading list. These are mysteries, historical fiction, literary fiction and a graphic novel.

Lucy by Jamaica Kincaid

For the Read Jamaica Kincaid read along I am also behind and I am still reading Lucy which was the group’s pick for April and May. I love Lucy’s narrative voice so much and fingers crossed I’ll finish this by the weekend.

Lucy is the story of a young black West Indian woman who works as an au pair for a wealthy white couple.

I just realized that I have the French edition saved in Goodreads.

Hungry Ghosts by Kevin Jared Hosein

I loved the first book I ready by Kevin Jared Hosein so I immediately wanted to read Hungry Ghosts but I’m not far into the audiobook on Scribd so I can’t give a synopsis. It’s historical fiction and set in Trinidad and Tobago.

Invisible Difference by Julie Dachez

This is a graphic novel and I’m having the hardest time reading it on my phone. I am reading this for the Read Harder Challenge and it’s for the prompt read a graphic novel that features disability representation.

Mystery On The Menu by Nicole Kimberling

So a few months ago on Goodreads someone invited me to join BookSirens and this is the first book I chose to read from them. It’s three short mystery stories in the collection with chef Andrew known as Drew being the amateur sleuth. I enjoyed the first story and I’m halfway through the second mystery. I like it so far.

Summer 2023 TBR List

These are books I hope to read in the summer months. I have maybe seven or eight books on the list. It’s a book mix and are mostly ARCs from NetGalley that I am beyond behind with reviews for. I’ve decided not to request anything new until I’ve read these books.

The Pre-up by Arianne Richmonde

Richmonde is a new to me author but I saw publishers, Bookouture tweet about this book and I wanted to read it. It is set for release on 27 July 2023. It has the tagline: “She signed the papers. Now she must pay the price…” And I can’t wait to dive into this psychological thriller in summer 2023.

The Rebel King by Kennedy Ryan

I read the first book Kingmaker and I liked it. I still wish that this series wasn’t my introduction into Kennedy Ryan’s works because I feel iffy about her writing about the Native American experience as an African American but book one ended with a cliffhanger so I need to know more. This book is being released via Sourcebooks on 27 June. But you have to read book one first and that’s already out. It’s a steamy second chance romance series.

Single Dads Club by Therese Beharrie

This is a contemporary romance from a new to me author that I am excited to read. But sadly I missed the review window on NetGalley but I’ll be sure to add my review on Goodreads and do a write-up for my monthly reading wrap-up post when I finish it.

A Perfect Vintage by Chelsea Fagan

You might know Chelsea from the Financial Diet on YouTube that’s how I know her so when she announced her romance novel on Twitter I knew that I wanted to read it. This book was released on 6 June 2023.

Small Worlds by Caleb Azumah Nelson

Another new to me author but my friend Andre raved about Nelson’s novel Open Water so I want to try this one. This is yet another ARC via NetGalley and this was released on 28 April 2023 but NetGalley has a release date of 18 July so I have time to get to this one.

What Never Happened by Rachel Howzell Hall

This is set for release on 1 August and I really hope I get to this mystery novel before it is released. I’ve had it on my Kindle since January 2023 so it’s important to get to this one and review it.

One Tough Cookie by Delise Torres

And lastly is this romance novel that I’ve had my eye on since Valentine’s Day so I need to get to this summer and it feels like the perfect beach read.

And that’s my summer 2023 TBR list. Wish me luck.

Have you read any of the books on my list? Or do you want to read any of these books with me let me know.

And book are you most excited about reading in summer 2023?

Happy summer reading!
