August 2026 Reading Wrap-Up

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Why hello, there. Welcome to My Jamaican Vignettes blog. We’re excited to chat with you about books, wellness and well-being. Today is an MJV bookish thoughts kinda of day. I am recapping the books I read in August 2026.

It is my August 2026 reading wrap-up.

I read three books in August. Let’s talk about them.

August 2026 Reading Wrap-Up

I read a contemporary romance that was book three in a series and the last book in the series, a romantic thriller or romantic suspense that is book one in a duology and a non-fiction exploration of friendships. Let’s get into it.

Big Girl Blitz by Danielle Allen

Big Girl Blitz by Danielle Allen is book three in the Curves series. The Curves series follows three best friend: Aliyah, Nina, and Jazmyn as they fall in love during a single summer. So the books are interconnected. Please read them in order so read:

Big Girl Blitz

My only challenge with Big Girl Blitz was the American football references. Our main male character Lamar is a football player and I just did not vibe with the sports references.

I am glad I read the series. My favourite book from the Curves series was book one. A solid contemporary romance series and I’d rate the series overall four-stars.

Content warnings for fatophia, body shaming, death of a family member, grief.

To Catch A Sinner by Lucy Wilson-Tagoe

Then I read and really enjoyed To Catch A Sinner by Lucy Wilson-Tagoe which is book one in the Blurred Lines Duet.

I adored Sin and Kwame and I’m rooting for them. I enjoyed the layered portrayal of Ghanian culture and I feel like there’s more to the Palmers than Sin believes.

Book one ended on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for book two.

The Company We Keep: Friendship Connection and Redefining What It Means to Grow Together by Alexandra Elle

I finally finished The Company We Keep and I really want to go back through it and work my way through the reflection questions as journal prompts.

That was my month in books.

What was the best thing you read in August?

See you next week.
