Years ago all the way back in 2023 when I did my short stint of online therapy with Better Help one of the first exercises that I was asked to do by my therapist for to create a Things I Love About Me or My Best or Positive Traits List. I still have that list archived in my phone’s notes app.
Today I am recommending that you do this exercise too.
Grab your journal or notebook or even open up on a new note on your phone and let’s begin.
Things I Love About Me: My Best Or Positive Traits Journalling Exercise
For this exercise I don’t want you to brain dump what comes to mind immediately, instead I want you to close your eyes and breathe deeply for a few minutes and really connect with yourself. Be honest and open and think of how you would describe someone you love and care for deeply. Because you should feel this level of warmth, appreciate and consideration for yourself that you do for those you love best.
When you are ready list six things that you love or admire most about yourself. These are your best traits.
Now take it a step further and write a sentence of two describing or explaining how those positive traits show up in your life in a consistent way.
Save your note or close your journal or notebook. But I want you to come back to this list on days when you feel unsure, uncertain or anxious so you can be grounded and know exactly how amazing you are.
