Am I bringing back monthly reading wrap-ups? Well yes, yes I am. In January I read five books. And I’m happy to share that two of them were physical books that I own.
It was a mix of romance, essays, self-development and cozy mysteries. So quite the mix.
January 2026 Reading Wrap-up

The first book I completed in 2026 was Carefree Black Girls by Zeba Blay. I started reading months ago in mid 2025 and I simply didn’t get around to completing it.
This book was good but I felt as if I had I read it in 2022 when I was first released I would’ve loved it more.

Then I finally read Reel by Kennedy Ryan. This beloved on BookTok and I understand why. It is heartwarming and tender. It’s a romance between the rising new lead actress of a biopic and the director. There’s chronic illness representation that’s done really well.
Book two in the series, Score comes out later this year.

Then I read a cozy mystery Double Mocha Blues by Tyora Moody and I liked it. I would read more in the series. This series has a podcast mixed in so you get to read what is like the podcast transcript mixed into the mystery. This was fun.

Then I’m entering into my hostess era and I read and enjoyed Having People Over by Chelsea Fagan. This is a cute little book about community, friendship and of course, hosting and being a good guest.

The last book I completed for the month was Struck Speechless by Tati Richardson. This is a digital advanced reader copy that I received via Edelweiss.
I can’t stand the FMC, Jackie annoyed me so much. But I am invested in the series. I highly recommend book one, Losing Sight.
Tati Richardson writes romance with characters who are in their 40s and I love that.
What was your top book of January?
Also if you haven’t started reading anything yet, join my for my Q1 slow read of River Sing Me Home by Eleanor Shearer
Talk some more tomorrow.

I actually read six books. This post was drafted and scheduled ahead of my finishing Struck Speechless and then I also read People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry in January..
