Today I am reviewing VR Stone’s Psycho Analysis. This book is self-published and I found it on NetGalley last month and I loved it.

Stone loves crime stories – The Silence of The Lambs, The Sopranos, American Psycho, Pulp Fiction, Shutter Island – movies, TV shows and books featuring cynical cops, femmes fatale, gangsters and serial killers. Thrills, twists and violence – that’s what he craves. Give him a well-crafted tale featuring compelling characters on the wrong side of the law and he’ll be a happy man.
He really does have an unhealthy fascination with people getting shot, stabbed and strangled. But he doesn’t have the guts to set up a protection racket in his leafy London suburb, rob a bank or follow you home at night. So he sits alone in a room making up stories.
When he’s not busy with that, he works in the City of London and spends time with his very patient wife and very impatient children.

My thoughts on Psycho Analysis:
Like what you’ve seen so far? Well the book was brilliant. It had great storytelling, interested plot, twisted dynamic characters were its hard, well damn near impossible for me to choose a side and decide good vs evil.
The villain of the story is revealed at the very beginning, this not a whodunit, this is a she did, yes the serial killer is a woman and Sarah, well she hunts men and while you feel for the victims who are genuinely innocent, unsuspecting men that she targets. I also liked Sarah. There are three perspectives that the book shifts from, Sarah, the killer, Dr. Gross, the psychiatrist and Martin, the detective. All three are flawed, there is no clearly innocent party in this story and that part of what makes it compelling.
This book has great pacing and is the perfect October thriller. One of the best books I’ve read this year.
